Places to Eat in Huaraz

There are several restaurants around the major crossroads in town (Raimondi and Luzuriaga) of which the best is the reasonably priced Chifa Familiar. Slightly away from the centre, the Pio Pio chicken restaurant is inexpensive, simple and frequently recommended by travellers. For a cheap and typical local lunch try the Recreo La Union. It's not fancy but it is quite authentic. For good Italian food, the place to go is the Pizzeria Ticino which is more expensive than most of the other restaurants but nearly always has a line of people waiting outside. They can't all be wrong!

The Ebony 84 on the Plaza de Armas has been recommended although I've never eaten there because it often seems deserted. Las Puyas has very large and inexpensive meals and is popular with budget travellers - although you're going for quantity rather than quality. For top quality, the Hostal Andino has a Swiss-run kitchen and delicious food. It's primarily for guests of the hotel but non-guests will also be served if there's room, particularly if you make a reservation.

A easy to read list of places with their status today would have been nice. Otherwise a nice idea, would like more stuff from the old days.
