Hi,
Huaraz has an excellent cinema at Plaza Belen on the main street.
It is run by Jim and Gladys who are really friendly and knowledgable.
There are 2 shows a night and popcorn is included!

Lunes, 24/10 8:30PM: Touching the Void
Moving doku-drama from the legendary experience of two young british climbers in over their heads.
The movie was filmed in the Huayhuash, and seeing it in Huaraz gives an extra dimension to the experience.
Martes, 25/10 5:30PM: Diarios de Motocicleta
The young Che Guevara travelling with a friend through the south american reality.
Beatifully filmed on location in Argentina, Chile and Peru. I recognized some natural wonders from my bicycle trip in 94/95 so for me it was nostalgic seeing this movie here last july.
Martes, 25/10 8:30PM: Plata Quemada
BURNT MONEY is another film from Argentina that places that country in the forefront of exemplary film making. After viewing this compelling movie of a retelling of a bank heist that occurred in Buenos Aires in 1965 one wonders why Hollywood has so much difficulty presenting credible and sensual male/male relationships...

Since the director is Norwegian I will cut&paste a bit more than usual:
Factotum follows Henry Chinaski (Matt Dillon), as he drifts from job to job, from factory warehouse to shop floor, working for anyone foolish enough to offer him with a paycheque. While he has no great desire to work, he needs cash to support his real commitments: drinking, racetrack gambling , hooking up with women as unbridled and inebriated as he is, and writing stories that are continually thrown out by publishers. More faithful to the spirit of Charles Bukowski's reportage from the boozed up margins of society than many previous adaptations, Bent Hamer's first English language feature develops the exquisitely mannered, observational style of his previous award-winning film, Kitchen Stories, creating a stylised view of the writer's world, one filled with humour and despair.

Una sola palabra, genial. Realizada a base de esfuerzos, con un pobre presupuesto y sin grandes aspiraciones en el terreno comercial, nació Solas de manos de Benito Zambrano, un director que parecía salir de la nada. Esta es una historia tan real que parece extraño verla en una pantalla de cine.
